Boys’ basketball: Season begins next week
Getting ready for basketball season
The countdown has begun for the beginning of the high school basketball season.
The Redondo tournament is set to start next Monday. Teams are holding scrimmages and alumni games this coming week.
On Saturday, Crespi and Cantwell-Sacred Heart got together for a scrimmage, and Crespi prevailed, 67-61. De’Anthony Melton scored 20 points. Both schools are expected to be strong candidates to be selected for the Southern Section Open Division playoffs.
Crespi opens on Nov. 23 against Peninsula at 8 p.m. in the Redondo tournament.
Other opening Redondo tournament games include Compton-El Camino Real at 3:30 p.m.; Long Beach Poly-Campbell Hall at 7:30 p.m.; Eastvale Roosevelt-Narbonne at 6 p.m.; Westchester-Lywood at 4:30 p.m.; Oak Park-Rancho Christian at 3 p.m.; Redondo-Mayfair at 6:30 p.m.; Inglewood-Hart at 5 p.m.
