Boys’ basketball: Reinforcements about to arrive for Maranatha
- Share via
Don’t anyone feel sorry for Pasadena Maranatha, which is 3-5 on the season and probably one of the region’s biggest disappointments in terms of record.
Except that the Minutemen haven’t been at full strength. The reinforcements are about to arrive.
Trevor Stanback, a 6-foot-10 junior center from Chaminade, hasn’t played or practiced because of an undisclosed health issue, according to Coach Tim Tucker.
“It’s a precautionary thing,” Tucker said. “He’ll be playing soon. I believe in the next week or so, he should be OK.”
Set to become eligible on Jan. 5 is 6-8 junior Odera Nwobi, a transfer from Redding Liberty Christian.
If Stanback and Nwobi can get onto the court to join guard Tyler Dorsey, then Maranatha might start living up to its preseason potential.
Maranatha has huge games ahead against Bishop O’Dowd on Jan. 3, Cathedral on Jan. 7, Village Christian on Jan. 13 and Corona Centennial on Jan. 17.
