Boys’ basketball: It’s all about the guards at Santa Monica High

If guards win championships, then Santa Monica High is going to be a team to watch in baskeball this winter.
When it comes to a terrific trio of guards, the Vikings will be hard to top with senior Nuwr’iyl Williams, junior Jonah Mathews and freshman Spencer Freedman.
Coach James Hecht has been at Santa Monica for 21 years and he said, “It’s the most skilled backcourt we have had since I started here.”
If 6-foot-7 Harvard-Westlake transfer Daniel Schreier can provide some rebounding and defense, Santa Monica figures to be very tough to beat.
