Boys’ basketball: Duane Cooper is new coach at Lakewood

Duane Cooper, a former USC and NBA player, has been hired as the boys’ basketball coach at Lakewood.
Cooper served one year as coach at Compton Dominguez in 2009. He was a second-round NBA draft pick in 1992.
He replaces Matt Ruiz, who retired after 20 years with the Lancers.
