Boys’ basketball: Chino Hills opens with 131-42 victory

There’s no hiding from what No. 1-ranked Chino Hills is capable of producing on basketball scoreboards this season with three Ball brothers in the starting lineup.

In its first game of the season on Monday night, the Huskies came away with a 131-42 victory over San Bernardino in the Corona Centennial tournament.

They scored 85 points in the first half and reached 100 points with 4:14 left in the third quarter.

Senior Lonzo Ball had 25 points, all in the first half, including eight dunks. He also contributed 13 assists.

Junior LiAngelo Ball scored 20 points and freshman LaMelo Ball added 20 points in his first high school game.

“It was real fun,†LaMelo said.

Andre Ball, a cousin, scored 22 points.

San Bernardino committed 27 turnovers in the first half.

Chino Hills next plays Eastvale Roosevelt on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. at Centennial.
