Boys’ basketball: Chaminade has 15-point halftime lead over Loyola
- Share via
No. 2-ranked Loyola has a 14-game winning streak, but the Cubs trail Chaminade, 37-22, at halftime of their Mission League game at Loyola.
Chamiande’s matchup zone defense has been causing Loyola problems. The Cubs keep missing shots, and the balls are being rebounded by 6-foot-8 Jack Williams and 6-10 Trevor Stanback. On offense, Williams, a Long Beach State signee, has been effective, scoring 14 points. Stanback has eight points and Sammy Linn has seven.
Loyola is going to need to change the tempo in the second half and start to rely on Parker Jackson-Cartwright to penetrate more on offense. Thomas Welsh, Loyola’s 7-foot center, has been held to a season-low two points.
