There’s no better athlete on the campus of Grant High than junior Chad Holloway. He was a star for the football team and now he’s a star for the basketball team that earned a spot in next Saturday’s City Section Division II final with a 64-55 upset of No. 1-seeded King-Drew on Friday night.
Holloway scored 28 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter, to enable Coach Howard Levine to make another attempt to win his first City title in 29 years of coaching. Sam Riley led King-Drew with 23 points.
Grant will play Hamilton in the 11 a.m. final at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
In Division III, Bernstein and Franklin will meet in the championship game.
