Basketball: Christmas tournaments begin on Friday

If you love high school basketball, Friday is the start of the annual Christmas tournament season. There will be tournaments galore around Southern California. Hart, Chaminade, Ventura, San Dimas, Rancho Mirage, La Salle and Santa Barbara are all hosting boys’ tournaments.
In girls’ basketball, El Camino Real, Alemany and Norco are sites for action.
For boys, the Under Armour Holiday Classic at Torrey Pines has some intriguing matchups. Corona Centennial is taking on Cantwell-Sacred Heart at 12:40 p.m., followed by Loyola-Redondo at 2:15 p.m. Westchester, Windward and Lawndale are also in the National Division of the tournament.
The MaxPreps tournament at Rancho Mirage includes Santa Ana Mater Dei, Damien, Alemany and Sierra Canyon.
