Baseball: Sid Lopez is hired as coach at Reseda Cleveland

The interim title has been removed for Sid Lopez at Reseda Cleveland. He has been named baseball coach, Athletic Director Greg Venger said.
Lopez took over early in the season after the suspension of Scott Drootin for a practice incident. He had been Cleveland’s pitching coach. He previously servied as an assistant at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Cleveland made it to the City Section Division I semifinals.
Drootin’s suspension was never lifted, and he decided to move on, Venger said.
“We’re sad to see him leave,” Venger said.
Drootin spent three years with the Cavaliers. He was The Times’ Coach of the Year in 2015 after guiding the Cavaliers to the Division 1 final at Dodger Stadium.
