Baseball: Max Fried to undergo Tommy John surgery

Former Harvard-Westlake pitcher Max Fried, a first-round draft pick of the San Diego Padres in 2012, will undergo Tommy John surgery on Aug. 20, according to a blog from MLBblogs.com.
The left-handed Fried was the seventh pick overall in the draft and a teammate of Lucas Giolito, who also underwent Tommy John surgery.
He has been considered one of the top prospects in the Padres organization.
