Baseball: Former Edison pitcher Henry Owens to make MLB debut
- Share via
Left-hander Henry Owens, 23, was one of the top pitchers in Southern California during his Edison High days in Huntington Beach.
On Tuesday, he’s scheduled to make his major-league debut for the Boston Red Sox starting on the mound against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
Red Sox fans have been waiting a long time for Owens to get his chance, but the Red Sox were patient and wanted him to be ready.
The 6-foot-7 Owens was the Cal-Hi Sports player of the year in 2011 when he went 12-1 with a 1.15 ERA. He was first-round pick of the Red Sox.
Here’s a profile of Owens from 2010.
