Baseball: Eric Yang, Jeremy Polon lead El Camino Real past Narbonne
Yang gets two hits, Polon strikes out 10

El Camino Real is known to have an outstanding junior class of baseball players, and they were on display on Wednesday during a 3-1 win over Narbonne.
There was junior catcher Eric Yang belting an RBI double in the first inning that went to the fence in center field and adding an RBI single later in the game.
There was junior Jake Selco hitting a home run in the sixth.
There was junior Dylan Hirsch scoring three runs.
And there was junior All-City pitcher Jeremy Polon striking out 10 and allowing one hit in a complete-game performance. Daniel Rocha had Narbonne’s only hit in the first inning, a double. He later scored on a ground out. Rocha also pitched for the Gauchos.
Ryan Shreve struck out eight in five shutout innings in Taft’s 6-5 win over North Hollywood. The Toreadors (4-0) needed a walk-off double by Gedeon Ellis to end the game. Eric Carrero had a three-run home run for Taft.
Granada Hills defeated Arleta, 10-1. Chris Murphy had two hits and struck out six in three innings.
Cleveland defeated Verdugo Hills, 7-1. Sammy Villa threw a complete game, striking out eight.
In a major upset, Roosevelt knocked off Granada Hills Kennedy, 4-1. Jose Jimenez had two hits. Robert Contreras struck out six, walked one and threw a three-hitter.
Sylmar defeated Poly, 7-1. Josh Meza took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished with a three-hitter. Moises Gutierrez had a two-run double.
San Fernando defeated Banning, 4-3. Eddie Mendez had two hits, including a two-run home run.
