Boys’ basketball: Marmonte League vs. Orange County on Saturday
- Share via
Marmonte League co-champions Calabasas and Westlake will be playing in back-to-back games at the Honda Center on Saturday taking on Orange County teams. Westlake has the opening game in Division 2AA against Anaheim Canyon at 10 a.m., followed by Calabasas-Sonora 2A final at noon.
The two Marmonte schools are facing big challenges.
Canyon has superb shooters, led by point guard Anthony Ballestero.
Sonora has two outstanding juniors with long-range shooting touches in Ben Rico (19 points a game) and Josh Rodriguez (17 points).
Westlake also has its own collection of shooters, led by Marcos Soto and Isaiah Brooks.
And Calabasas has firepower in Jeremy Lieberman, Larry Bush and Austin Smith.
Shooting at the Honda Center is always a challenge for high school teams, so the one that gets easy baskets off missed shots could be the winner.
