Baseball: Jacob Nix is rising fast as a pitcher for Los Alamitos
- Share via
One month before the baseball season begins, there might not be a pitcher rising faster in the minds of professional scouts than Jacob Nix of Los Alamitos.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Nix signed with UCLA, but he’s also throwing between 92 and 95 mph, and that’s the kind of velocity scouts get excited about.
If he throws strikes, too, opposing teams could be in big trouble facing Los Alamitos this spring.
Nix was a member of the gold-medal winning USA U18 championship team in fall, pitching against Cuba, so he knows about handling pressure. And Coach Matt Nuez reports how Nix is among the first players showing up to early morning weight lifting sessons.
So everything looks positive for Nix to be one of the top pitchers in Southern California and get fans excited to see him pitch.
