Hanley Ramirez added to Dodgers lineup
Reporting from San Diego — Hanley Ramirez was a late addition to the Dodgers’ lineup Saturday, a day after he made an early departure because of stiffness in his left leg.
Ramirez worked out on the warning track at Petco Park under the supervision of team trainers and Manager Don Mattingly.
“He obviously looked really good,†Mattingly said. “Everything was easy.â€
Ramirez will bat second for the Dodgers.
Yasiel Puig, who has no hits in his last 19 at-bats, was dropped to the fifth spot.
“I want to get Hanley the extra at-bat,†Mattingly said.
Before Ramirez was removed from the game Friday night, he was three for four with a home run and a double.
“I thought he looked good,†Mattingly said. “I think it’s the first time we’ve seen him with better timing since he’s been back. To me, it looks like he’s swinging better.â€
Hyun-Jin Ryu, who has been sidelined with a strained buttock muscle, remains on track to start Sunday in the series finale against the San Diego Padres. Third baseman Juan Uribe could also return from the disabled list.
