Former Clipper Matt Barnes gets shut down by Rihanna on Instagram

In an interview with TMZ on Sunday, Matt Barnes was questioned about his relationship with Rihanna.

"Rihanna is my friend right now, so we'll see where it goes," Barnes said.

Barnes went on to say that there "possibly" could be a future with her, adding that they're "just past the crush stage."

The Clippers traded Barnes, along with Spencer Hawes, to the Charlotte Hornets in June in exchange for Lance Stephenson. The Memphis Grizzlies then acquired Barnes from the Hornets in exchange for Luke Ridnour.

When asked if the small forward will have a hard time seeing Rihanna since he'll be playing in Memphis next season, Barnes said the two of them will be fine.

"No, she's rich," Barnes said.

Money may not be a problem, but apparently there's another big barrier to their relationship. Namely Rihanna.

The singer posted a photo of Barnes to her Instagram page, using hashtags to say that she's not into him, and she's never even met him.

"#thisactuallyhurtmyfeelings," she added. "#defamationofcharacter."
