Chris Paul gets revenge against Grizzlies in Clippers’ 97-79 victory

Chris Paul got his revenge over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday with a 97-79 win.

After committing a turnover with 1.9 seconds left and the Clippers down by one point in Monday’s 90-87 loss to the Grizzlies, Paul had a strong fourth quarter Friday, scoring 11 points in 12 minutes to help the Clippers beat the Grizzlies.

The Clippers’ All-Star point guard finished with 19 points and 13 assists. Jamal Crawford added 19 points and J.J. Redick 18.

DeAndre Jordan finished with 15 points and 22 rebounds, his seventh consecutive game with at least 15 points. The Grizzlies used the Hack-a-Jordan strategy against the Clippers, sending the team’s big man to the free-throw line 17 times -- he made seven.

The Clippers (38-21) snapped their two-game losing streak with the win.

After ending the first half tied, 41-41, the Clippers opened the third quarter with a 21-6 run to lead by as much as 15 points. The Grizzlies, however, cut the deficit to seven entering the fourth quarter, 69-62. Behind Paul, the Clippers went on to lead by 19 points in the fourth as they outscored Memphis, 28-17.

The Clippers outshot the Grizzlies, 46.2% to 37.9%, and outrebounded them, 47-41, on Friday.

Zach Randolph led the Grizzlies (41-16) with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Friday’s game marked the Clippers’ eighth straight game without their All-Star power forward Blake Griffin, who had surgery Feb. 9 to remove a staph infection from his right elbow. The Clippers are 5-3 without him.

The Clippers will play the third game of a four-game trip against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday.
