Clippers’ summer league team loses to Miami Heat, 87-85

The Clippers lost to the Miami Heat, 87-85, on Wednesday at the Orlando Pro Summer League.
The Clippers (1-3) were led by guard Diante Garrett, who had 20 points on nine-for-18 shooting, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Guard D.J. Newbill finished with 18 points on seven-for-13 shooting, four rebounds and two assists. Forward Branden Dawson had 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The Heat (4-0) was led by forward-center Willie Reed, who had 17 points and seven rebounds.
The Heat had 41 free throws and the Clippers only 23. The Heat had 20 turnovers and the Clippers only 11.
The Clippers were playing without point guard Nate Wolters, who fractured the middle finger of his left hand Monday in the team’s 80-63 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Orlando Pro Summer League will finish Friday.
