Dozens dash for a splash in Surf City’s annual new year event by the pier

With El Nino’s arrival forecast for this week, it’s expected to be a wet new year in 2016. Some residents, however, didn’t wait for the rains to get soaked. On Jan. 1, dozens ran into the ocean by the Huntington Beach Pier in the 16th annual Surf City Splash. Proceeds from the event, which featured some outlandish costumes, went to the International Surfing Museum.
