No Canyon Hills Project
I think I can speak for most of my community when I say we do not want the Canyon Hills project in our Verdugo Mountains.
It’s true we live in an urban area, but the Crescenta, Sunland and Tujunga valleys are a rural exception.
The environmental impact report for the project is flawed and distorted. It should be re-examined.
If we look at the Verdugo Hills development off the 2 Freeway, on the west side, across from the Glendale Sports Center, imagine what it’s going to look like in the Southern Foothills of the Sunland and Tujunga area and especially La Tuna Canyon, which will disappear.
Overpopulation, urban sprawl, destruction of the environment, traffic congestion, overcrowded schools, fire danger, water runoff and the destruction of that portion of the Verdugo Mountain all will result from this project. This is a bad idea.
By the way, they plan to build a road from the center of the project down to Foothill Boulevard. That’s really going to help traffic in the Foothills. They also have found a way (fine print in the EIR) to change the mountain ridge so it comes closer to our valley floor.
Let’s keep them out. We don’t want them here.
