Baseball: Hiura homer propels USA

PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba — UC Irvine standout Keston Hiura hit a pinch-home run on Wednesday to propel the USA Baseball collegiate national team to a 2-1 victory over Cuba to complete the first series victory over Cuba by a U.S. squad.

Hiura belted his team-leading third home run of the summer in the eighth inning, the only homer for either team in the five-game series.

USA finishes its month-long summer tour 11-7-1.

Hiura hit .289 with six runs batted in in 38 at-bats.
