Bob Marshall, who last year led Marina to its first Sunset League title since 2005, stepped down as the school’s baseball coach on Wednesday, said Athletic Director Michelle Spencer.

Spencer said Marshall resigned for personal reasons. She added that Marshall would continue to teach at Marina.

Marshall was in charge of his alma mater for six seasons, going 99-75-1 overall and 47-42-1 in league. The Vikings went to the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs four times under Marshall, and the furthest trip was to the finals in 2013, when they lost to Studio City Harvard-Westlake, 1-0, at Dodger Stadium.

The Vikings lost at home to Corona, 8-0, in the first round in May.

“We’re going to start right away,†Spencer said of finding someone to replace Marshall, who spent 22 seasons coaching at Marina, 16 as an assistant.

Marshall did not respond to a voicemail and text requesting comment.
