High School Roundup: NHHS girls’ lax clinches share of league title

GIRLS’ LACROSSE
Newport Harbor 14, El Dorado 5
Sarah Farley had four goals and two draw controls for the Sailors, who clinched a share of the Century SE League title Tuesday night at Jim Scott Stadium.
Katie Hendrix had two goals, two assists and four draws for Newport Harbor. Heather Roberts added three goals, and Adena Rothbard had two goals and an assist.
Corinne Reuter, Jillian Rosten and Caitlin Dwyer also scored for the Sailors (7-6, 5-0 in league).
Newport Harbor can clinch its first outright league title in program history by beating Yorba Linda on Thursday.

Costa Mesa 222, Estancia 223
Jimmy Solano shot 42 to lead the Mustangs past rival Estancia in an Orange Coast League match at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course (par 35) on Tuesday.
Cameron Curet (43), Austin Sheffner (43), Huy Ngo (46) and Sammy Swanson (48) also scored for the Mustangs (2-5 in league). Costa Mesa’s two wins have come against Estancia.

TUSTIN — Clay Seeber shot three-under par 33 to earn medalist honors and lead the Sea Kings to a big Pacific Coast League win Tuesday at Tustin Ranch Golf Club.
Guy Clauss (36), Ethan Wien (40), Garrett Wayne (42) and JohnMichael Jurgensen (42) also scored for CdM (7-4, 4-2 in league), which beat Irvine, 198-207, on Monday at Oak Creek.
Seeber shot one-under 35 to lead the Sea Kings.

Noah Mayne shot one-over par 37 to lead the Sailors to the Sunset League win at Big Canyon Country Club on Tuesday.
Brett Bennett of HB was the medalist at 35.
Richie Simons (38), Drake Siegal (38), Ethan Barnes (39) and Ryan Standt (45) also scored for Newport Harbor (6-2, 5-1 in league), which defeated Marina, 199-205, on Monday at Meadowlark.
Mayne was the medalist at even-par 35.

Corona del Mar 10, Beckman 8
IRVINE — Bjorn Hoffmann swept in singles for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s Pacific Coast League match at Beckman High.
Kyle Pham won two singles sets for CdM, and Diego Fernandez del Valle and Jacob Cooper won two doubles sets.
Corona del Mar, ranked No. 6 in CIF Southern Section Division 1, improved to 12-3, 6-1 in league. It was the Sea Kings’ second 10-8 win over No. 8-ranked Beckman this season.
Hoffmann will play in the CIF singles division at the Ojai tournament beginning Thursday. Pedro and Diego Fernandez del Valle will compete in the CIF doubles division.

Newport Harbor def. Fountain Valley
FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Spencer Lawrence finished with a dozen kills for the Sailors in a 25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 25-13 win, helping them improve to 6-0 in Sunset League play on Tuesday.
Newport Harbor, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division 1, plays host to four-time defending league champion Huntington Beach on Friday at 5:45 p.m.

Clay Dickinson had nine kills to help lead the Sea Kings to a 25–8, 25–11, 25–14 Pacific Coast League win on Tuesday.
Jake Meyer added seven kills and Kevin Kobrine had six kills for CdM (18-5, 6-0 in league).

Mason Tufuga had 25 kills and eight blocks to lead the Mustangs to a 25-19, 25-18, 25-20 Orange Coast League win on Tuesday.
Coby Pham amassed 29 assists and Nick Warner added seven kills and 10 digs for Costa Mesa.

Josh Lee had five kills for the Lightning in the Academy League match that visiting St. Margaret’s swept, 25-17, 25-11, 25-12, on Tuesday.
Shane Larimer added four blocks for Sage Hill (5-9, 4-4 in league).

Preston Hartsell went three for three with a triple and RBI for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game on Tuesday.
Senior pithcer Evan Larsen earned a complete-game win. Kevin McCarthy and JT Schwartz had RBIs for CdM (14-3, 5-3 in league).
The Sea Kings play at Irvine on Friday.

Calvary Chapel 3, Estancia 1
Connor Brown pitched six innings, struck out seven and allowed two earned runs in Estancia’s Orange Coast League road game at TeWinkle Park on Tuesday.
Brown went two for three with a run batted in, while Jeff Alai and Nick Torres each had a hit for Estancia (13-8, 4-4 in league).
Estancia plays host to Calvary Chapel, ranked No. 8 in CIF Southern Section Division 4, on Friday at 3:15 p.m.
