Newport celebrates July 4 with a day of fun in the sun

Thousands of visitors joined local residents Monday in sporting in red, white and blue on the water and under the bright sun in Newport Beach to commemorate the nation’s independence.
Across the city, neighborhoods hosted Fourth of July parades, barbecues and block parties.
Many revelers celebrated at Newport Harbor as boats decked out in patriotic decor sailed during the American Legion Yacht Club’s annual Old Glory Boat Parade.

At Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, guests took paddleboats, hydrobikes, catamarans and stand-up paddleboards for a spin on Upper Newport Bay and children cooled off in Moe B’s Aquatic Park, which featured colorful inflatables and water trampolines.
Later in the day, visitors at the Newport Dunes party listened to bands, dined on fish and steaks and watched the annual fireworks show over the water.
