Interfaith Council honors past executive director for 25 years of service

The Newport-Mesa-Irvine Interfaith Council honored past executive director Jim de Boom with a dinner on Thursday night at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach.

De Boom, a former Daily Pilot columnist, has served with the council for 25 years.

Other honorees were past council presidents Lloyd Sellers, Don Oliver, Greg Kelly, Dennis Short and Julie Elkins. The keynote speaker was Rusty Kennedy, executive director of the Orange County Human Relations Commission.

The Interfaith Council describes its mission as bringing together diverse religious communities for common goals.
