UC Irvine junior pitcher Andrew Morales was named second-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, adding to the third-team All-American honors he received earlier from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assn.
Morales, a transfer from Rio Hondo Community College, went 10-0 in his first season with the Anteaters. He posted a 1.89 earned-run average, the third-lowest in UCI single-season annals.
The first-team All-Big West Conference performer made 17 appearances, including 13 starts for the ‘Eaters. He struck out 85, allowed 78 hits and walked 21 in 95 1/3 innings, holding opponents to a .227 batting average.
He was Big West Pitcher of the Week three times, earning nearly a third of his team’s 33 wins.
