High School Roundup: CdM girls fall to Jurupa Valley

CORONA DEL MAR — Sophomore Maria King finished with 11 points in the Sea Kings’ second-round game against third-seeded Jurupa Valley in the CIF Southern Section Division 3AA playoffs on Saturday.

Kelly Tam had seven points with two three-pointers.

Krista Anderson had seven points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for CdM (10-18).

OAK HILLS — Newport Harbor High senior Mason Murphy (170 pounds) earned a sixth-place medal, but missed the CIF Masters Meet by one place.

Murphy finished the season with an overall record of 33-13. He scored 100 takedowns this season as well, which is the fourth most in the last 15 years at Newport. He also has earned the fourth most wins in a season in that time.
