CORONA DEL MAR — Five wrestlers earned pins to help the Sea Kings win their Pacific Coast League opener Wednesday.

Winning with pins were senior Andrew Minkus (126 pounds), juniors Chris Croxton (113), Brian Goldstone (153) and Kaden Ebbinga (145), and sophomore Ruslan Eynullaev (160).

Senior Paul Nguyen won by forfet, while junior Adam Reines (132) and freshman Chris Camarillo (106) won by decision.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Newport Harbor 63, Irvine 55

IRVINE — Junior guard Nic Sargeant finished with 17 points in the Sailors’ game in the Sunset League-Pacific Coast League Challenge on Wednesday.

Kevin Rakestraw added 14 points and Zach Wade had 10 assists for Newport Harbor.

The Sailors (7-3) play at Corona del Mar in the Battle of the Bay rivalry game on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
