Girls’ Volleyball: Sailors win three

HONOLULU — The Newport Harbor High girls’ volleyball team swept three matches to win its initial pool Thursday in the Ann Kang Invitational at Iolani School.

The Sailors defeated Moanalua, 25-16, 25-22, topped Mid-Pacific Istitute, 25-12, 25-17, and outlasted a school from Taiwan, 27-25, 24-26, 15-11.

Cinnamon Sary had 17 assists against Taiwan, four aces against MPI and four kills against Moanalua, while Maddy Brown had nine digs and seven kills against Taiwan.

Alexandra Holbrook, Sarah Buckingham, Kasey Thompson, Tabitha Goff, Lauren Demos, Torey Thompson and Hunter Jennings also contributed for the Tars.

Newport Harbor will join a pool of top teams today. The teams will be playing to advance to the championship bracket.
