Dates announced for Sunset League vs. Trinity League Baseball Challenge

The schedule has been announced for the third annual Sunset League vs. Trinity League Baseball Challenge, which pits teams from the two standout leagues against each other in a preseason showcase.

The event begins on Jan. 27, when Servite plays at defending Sunset League champion Huntington Beach at 10 a.m. The Oilers were the top seed in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs last season, and they beat host Servite 3-0 in the second round before losing in the quarterfinals to El Dorado.

Los Alamitos plays at Bellflower St. John Bosco, last year’s Trinity League champion, on Jan. 27 at 10 a.m.

Newport Harbor will play at JSerra on Jan. 30 at 5 p.m., with Fountain Valley playing at Mater Dei on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. The Monarchs were Division 1 semifinalists last year.

Marina will play Orange Lutheran on Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. at Hart Park. The event concludes Feb. 3 at 9:30 a.m., when Santa Margarita plays at Edison.
