Sage Hill sweep sets up CIF quarterfinals rematch
Amiyah De’Long and Sydnee Francis have carried the torch for the Sage Hill School girls’ volleyball team all season.
That trend continued on Thursday, as the two junior outside hitters led the No. 3-seeded Lightning to a 25-18, 25-14, 25-21 victory over visiting Goleta Dos Pueblos in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs.
De’Long had 17 kills, and Francis added 11 kills and two service aces.
Jade Blevins produced 33 assists and 12 digs. Kayla Gratzer chipped in with five kills and four blocks.
Next up for Sage Hill (21-8) is a quarterfinals rematch with Saddleback Valley Christian on Saturday at 7 p.m. As was the case last year, the Lightning will take to the road to face the Warriors (29-5).
Sage Hill beat Saddleback Valley Christian 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21 in a nonleague match on Aug. 31. The Lightning also won last year’s playoff contest in four sets (25-16, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21).
