Moore’s big night lifts Costa Mesa past Godinez in girls’ volleyball
Sophomore setter Malia Tufuga had 20 assists, 13 kills, and five blocks for the Costa Mesa High girls’ volleyball team in its 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-14 Orange Coast League win over Godinez on Monday.
Senior outside hitter Courtney Moore had a team-high 19 kills for Costa Mesa. Ashley Nguyen provided 19 assists, and libero Rae Galarion contributed 17 digs.
The Mustangs improve to 13-5 overall, 3-1 in league by defeating the Grizzlies (10-6, 1-3). Costa Mesa is putting itself in position to take a second swing at league leader Laguna Beach next week. The Breakers (8-5, 4-0) visit the Mustangs on Oct. 12.
