Los Amigos’ Leon earns boys’ water polo award in Garden Grove League

Los Amigos High senior Christian Leon has earned the Garden Grove League Goalkeeper of the Year award for the recently completed boys’ water polo season.

Leon is joined by Lobos junior teammates Joshua Nava and Armando Rodriguez on the first team.

The three players helped Los Amigos place second in league with a 3-1 record, losing only to league champion Garden Grove. The Lobos went 9-16 overall, advancing to the CIF Southern Section Division 6 playoffs, where Los Amigos lost to No. 2-seeded Buena Park 15-6 in the first round.

Los Amigos juniors Aldo Ibarra and Daniel Juarez earned second-team accolades.

Garden Grove swept the other major league honors, as senior Joseph Leong was selected league MVP, senior Zac Pashkutz the Offensive Player of the Year and senior Jeff Nguyen the Defensive Player of the Year.
