Men’s Volleyball: UCI’s Hershko named MPSF Player of the Week

For the second time this season, UC Irvine sophomore Tamir Hershko has been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week in men’s volleyball.
The 6-foot-6 outside hitter from Israel led the Anteaters to wins over No. 14-ranked Cal State Northridge, Stanford and No. 4-ranked Pepperdine last week.
He had 14 kills, three aces and a match-high eight digs in a four-game win at Northridge on Feb. 11, then put away a match-high 16 kills in a home sweep of Stanford on Friday.
He had a team-best 18 kills in the home win over Pepperdine on Saturday, posting four kills and a block in the decisive fifth set.
For the week, Hershko averaged 4.0 kills, 4.79 points, 0.5 aces, and 0.58 blocks per set.
UCI (13-3, 8-2 in conference), ranked No. 4 this week, takes a four-match winning streak to Stanford on Friday.
