PALOS VERDES — Mustangs junior Kellie Thorsness scored from set with 1:23 left in the game on a pass from junior Alicia Rederscheid, lifting Mesa to the come-from-behind nonleague victory Thursday at Peninsula High.
The Mustangs (4-4) had gone into the fourth quarter down, 7-5. Junior Ashley Tfaye tied the score with 2:15 remaining on a shot from seven meters.
Sophomore goalie Kaitlyn Hill had 15 saves and two assists for Mesa. Hill also had a five-meter penalty shot block in the fourth quarter, leading to a counterattack goal by her older sister, junior Aubry Hill.
Thorsness had a team-high three goals for Mesa, which plays at Palos Verdes on Tuesday.

Estancia 15, Magnolia 2
COSTA MESA — Eagles junior Ilene Umansky scored eight goals in the nonleague game Thursday at Estancia High.
Vanessa Rodriguez scored three goals and Alexis Paul made 11 saves for Estancia (3-5), which plays host to Ocean View on Tuesday.
Umansky has scored 42 goals in seven games this season for Estancia.

SAN DIEGO — Sea Kings senior Sydney Raguse scored the game-winner with five minutes left in a pool-play game of the Butch Lee Memorial Tournament Thursday at Cathedral Catholic High.
Junior Annie Alvarado also scored for CdM (1-0-1). Junior Karsten Sigband delivered the assist on Raguse’s goal on a corner kick.
The Sea Kings play against Rancho Buena Vista Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Cathedral Catholic

COSTA MESA — Senior Mariah Chapin scored two goals for the Eagles in the nonleague game Thursday at Jim Scott Stadium.
Sophomores Haley Flores and Cassy Garcia scored one goal each, while freshman Sarah Leahy had two assists for Estancia (2-1-1). Freshman goalie Caitlin Leahy made nine saves in her first shutout.
The Eagles being play in the Irvine tournament Friday. They will play against Los Amigos at Hicks Canyon Park at 6 p.m.

NEWPORT COAST — Sophomore guard Jack Williamson scored 17 points for the Lightning in the third-place game of the four-team Ueberroth Hoops Classic Thursday at Sage.
Senior forward Chris Zadra had 14 points for Sage Hill (1-5) against the team from Brisbane, Australia.
The Lightning play host to California Academy of Math and Science Dec. 16 at 4 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Sophomore Nick Sargeant and senior Chance Beauchamp scored 17 points each for the Sailors in the nonleague game Thursday.
Newport Harbor (3-2) will play at Rolling Hills Prep in San Pedro Saturday at 6 p.m.
