COSTA MESA — The host Pirates forced 34 turnovers and committed just 10 Friday in the quarterfinals of the Thanksgiving tournament they are co-hosting with Santa Ana at OCC.
Amanda Deal led the Pirates with 14 points, while Sami Little added 10 points, hitting all four of her field-goal attempts, including a three-pointer, and matching Deal’s team-best three steals.
OCC (3-1) opened a 42-19 halftime advantage, making 14 of 35 field-goal tries before intermission.
The Pirates made nine three-pointers to advance to tonight’s 6 p.m. semifinal against Merced. Deal and Michelle Yamasaki hit three three-pointers each. Yamasaki scored nine points. OCC was outrebounded, 51-42.
Los Angeles Valley plays against Mt. San Jacinto in the other semifinal today at 4 p.m. The final is on Sunday at 4 p.m. at OCC.

PALO ALTO — The No. 5-seeded Anteaters built a 4-1 lead after one quarter, but saw No. 4-seeded Cardinal rally for the win in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament quarterfinal Friday.
Seniors Brandon Johnson and Griffin Lerman led UCI (16-8) with two goals each. Stanford (14-7) scored with 5:56 left to go up 8-7.
Kyle Kruip, Kyle Baxter and Mitch Wise scored one goal each for the Anteaters. UCI senior goalie Matt Johnson had six saves.
The Anteaters face Pepperdine in a consolation game today at 10 a.m.
