Big season ends for St. Margaret’s
LOS ANGELES — The St. Margaret’s girls’ soccer team fell to Flintridge Sacred Heart, 3-0, in a CIF State Division III regional semifinal game Thursday at Occidental College.
The loss ends the season for the Tritons (27-3-2), who had a 25-game unbeaten streak snapped.
Six Newport Beach or Corona del Mar residents are on St. Margaret’s, which won a CIF Southern Section Division VI title this year. They include senior goalie Michelle Lancaster, senior defender Tory Davidson, junior forward Katie Donahue, junior defender Natalie Barbaresi and freshmen forwards Caroline Smith and Alexa Barbaresi.
Coach Johnny Marmelstein said Lancaster made six saves against Flintridge Sacred Heart, the CIF-SS Division I champion.

ANAHEIM — Senior P.J. Maloney threw a complete-game six-hitter for the visiting Mustangs in the Newport Elks Tournament consolation game in the OC Bracket on Thursday.
Moloney was two for five with a double and two runs batted in, while junior teammate Frank Farldow was three for four with three RBIs.
Mesa (2-2) plays host to Century to conclude the tournament Saturday at 2 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Junior Alex Trancoso singled to lead off the seventh for the host Eagles’ only hit in the semifinals of the Newport Eks Tournament’s OC Bracket on Thursday.
Junior Dylan Algra went the distance for the Cerritos-based winners, who did not have a hit through 4 1/3 innings against Estancia sophomore right-hander Steven Macias.
Estancia (3-1) will play in bracket third-place game Saturday against an opponent to be determined.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Freshman Karick Brown and junior Brian Mull were two of three medalists in the Sea Kings’ nonleague win Thursday at Seacliff Country Club.
Brown and Mull each shot two-over par 38 for CdM (5-0). John Davenport, Ryan Grable and Chase Wheatley each shot 39.
The Sea Kings play defending CIF champion Villa Park on Monday at Green River Golf Club.

SANTA ANA — Jake Knapp shot a one-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League match Thursday at Willowick Golf Course.
Cortland Lee (36), Aaron Wood (42), Jake Stone (44) and Ryan West (45) also scored for Estancia (4-0, 2-0 in league).

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior midfielder Sierra Michaelsen had three goals, one assist and 11 ground balls for the Sailors in Thursday’s nonleague win.
Stephanie Storch had two goals and six ground balls, and Madeline Storch also scored twice. Lexi McCardle had a goal and an assist and freshman Jenna Nulty scored her first career goal.
Senior Laura Calvillo shined defensively for the Sailors (3-2), who play host to Beckman on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Sophomores (No. 1) Robert Marrone and (No. 3) Tom Hausel earned one singles win each for the Eagles in the nonleague match Thursday.
Hausel is a foreign exchange student from Germany. Estancia is (1-4).
Rachel de los Santos said she is not coaching the team this season as she is on maternity leave. She said Carlos Beltran is the coach for this season.
