High School Roundup: Pacifica Christian Orange County girls’ soccer tops Capo Valley Christian

Juniors Cassie Cross and Leila Bahnsen, as well as freshmen Chloe Nguyen and Talia Proctor, all had goals as the Pacifica Christian Orange County girls’ soccer team earned a 4-0 victory over Capistrano Valley Christian on Wednesday in a nonleague road match.
Cross, Nguyen and Bahnsen added assists for undefeated Pacifica Christian (5-0-1), which has yet to allow a goal. Senior goalkeeper Jo Snider helped the Tritons earn their sixth straight shutout to start the season.
Pacifica Christian plays at Lakewood Mayfair on Tuesday.
BASEBALL
Laguna Beach 3, La Mirada 2: Ryan Strickland earned the win for the Breakers in Wednesday’s Ryan Lemmon Tournament game at home.
Strickland allowed two runs in five innings for Laguna Beach (2-2). He also had one of the Breakers’ two hits and a run batted in.
Griffin Naess got the save with two shutout relief innings for the Breakers.
SOFTBALL
Marina 13, Ocean View 3: Analiah Lummus went four for five with three doubles and two runs batted in to lead the visiting Vikings on Wednesday in a nonleague game.
MaKayla Mathis and Taylor Lane each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for Marina (5-1).
Ocean View is now 2-4.
Huntington Beach 6, Edison 0: Devyn Greer struck out 11 in a complete game shutout for the Oilers (5-0) on Wednesday in a nonleague game at home.
Greer walked none and limited the Chargers (2-3) to four hits, and she also had three hits at the plate.
Zoe Prystajko added a three-run triple for Huntington Beach.
BOYS’ GOLF
Costa Mesa 238, Katella 280: Cristopher Rodriguez was medalist for the Mustangs in their Orange Coast League opener Wednesday at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course.
Rodriguez shot a two-under-par 33 for Costa Mesa.
GIRLS’ GOLF
Costa Mesa 281, Katella 285: Sydney Ngo from Costa Mesa was medalist with a four-over-par 39 in Wednesday’s tight Orange Coast League opener at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Laguna Beach 33, Estancia 26: The host Breakers earned their first win of the season on Wednesday, improving to 1-4 overall.
Estancia dropped to 0-2, having opened the season with a 48-22 loss to Ocean View at home on Tuesday.
