The UC Irvine School of Law faculty has been ranked in the top 10 with the highest scholarly impact in the nation, according to a recent study.

The law school, now in its third year, was ranked No. 7 nationally, moving Irvine up two spots from a similar study in 2010, according to a news release.

Irvine’s law faculty placed better than Vanderbilt University, Cornell University and UC Berkeley. Yale University’s law faculty was ranked No. 1 for the second time.

The study ranked the top third of American Bar Assn.-accredited law schools in the nation, taking into account the average and median of total law journal citations from 2007 to 2011 for tenured law faculty, the release said.

Gregory Sisk, a professor at the University of St. Thomas - Minnesota, along with several colleagues in the law library conducted the study, using University of Chicago Professor Brian Leiter’s methodology.
