H.B. man arrested after hit-and-run

A 57-year-old pedestrian was in critical condition after being injured in a hit-and-run accident last week, according to Huntington Beach police.
Authorities arrested Johann Balogh, 65, of Huntington Beach, on suspicion of hit and run and suspicion of DUI. Police are not releasing the name of the victim.
Police responded to a call around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Springdale Street and Glenwood Drive. Officers found the 57-year-old man on the street and seriously injured. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and transported him to UCI Medical Center where he was admitted in critical condition.
During the preliminary investigation, Balogh contacted police at the scene, telling them he was the driver involved in the incident. His vehicle reportedly had evidence on it linking to the collision.
According to authorities, the suspect reportedly was heading southbound on Springdale in a black sedan when he hit the victim in the roadway.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking witnesses. Anyone with information on the incident can call Officer Huynh at (714) 536-5670.
