Huntington Beach Planning Commissioner Tim Ryan leads all City Council candidates in campaign fundraising for the first half of the year, according to the city clerk’s office.
Ryan, a first-time council candidate, totaled $27,870.69 in contributions through June 30.
Behind Ryan were Mayor Pro Tem Devin Dwyer, the race’s only incumbent, with $21,309.42, Planning Commissioner Barbara Delgleize with $11,913, Planning Commissioner Erik Peterson with $7,170, Los Angeles police Sgt. Jim Katapodis with $5,000 and Realtor Bruce Brandt with $400.
When the most recent reports came in, several candidates had not yet entered the race, including former Mayors Jill Hardy and Dave Sullivan. The next set of finance reports, which will cover the period from July 1 through Sept. 30, are due Oct. 5, according to City Clerk Joan Flynn.
Twelve candidates are in the running for three open seats on the council, with Dwyer seeking reelection and Mayor Don Hansen and Councilman Keith Bohr to be termed out.
The election will take place Nov. 6.
