Briefly In The News: Applicants needed for Citizen Academy

The Laguna Beach Police Department is seeking applicants for its Citizen Academy, according to the city manager’s weekly email update.

The academy starts Sept. 6 and will meet from 6 to 9:30 p.m. for 12 weeks, with the 13th week a graduation.

The Citizen Academy is designed to give community members a better understanding of the police department and foster better communication between police and the community.

Chamber seeks participants for upcoming expo

The Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce is looking for local restaurants and businesses to be part of its annual Taste of Laguna and Business Expo from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 27.

Restaurants can show off their culinary skills as part of the “taste†bit, while businesses can inform people about their services as part of the “expo†bit of the event.
