Brett Jaffe
USMC Sergeant, Brett Michael Jaffe, of Reno was taken from the world on Sunday, July 15, 2012 in a boating accident at Boca Reservoir. Brett was born in Seattle, Washington on March 8, 1971. Brett was a Corona del Mar High School alumnus.
Brett served with distinction in the United States Marine Corp for eleven years. While stationed in Reno, Brett met the love of his life, Betsy (Elizabeth) Jaffe. Brett and Betsy were married on March 6, 2005. She was his “true northâ€. Brett was a licensed realtor for many years and was pursuing his passion for cooking while enrolled at TMCC’s culinary school. Brett lived life to the fullest every day. He and Betsy enjoyed traveling the globe, jet skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, snowboarding, dirt biking, motorcycling, golfing and so much more. Brett was an amazing husband, son, brother, friend, and Marine.
Brett is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Betsy (Elizabeth) Jaffe, his father and step-mother Richard and Cheryl Jaffe, his mother and step-father Briana and Richard Long, his brothers – Dustin Long, Justin Jaffe, Justin Beck, sisters – Cambria Jaffe, Jodi Mack, and Ally Jaffe, and Gretchen Bergemann. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in the Marine Corps, his colleagues and many friends. Brett lived an extraordinary life and had no regrets. He is a hero.
A Full Military Honors Service was held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 in Reno, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations, in Brett’s name, be made to the Disabled American Veterans; P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH, 45250-0301, Attention: Gift Processing.
