A slew of fundraisers for City Council candidates will take place within just days of each other.

First up, Planning Commissioner Bob Whalen is hosting a sunset reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 14 at the Rooftop Lounge of La Casa Del Camino Hotel, 1289 S. Coast Hwy.

“Bob will be a strong, independent new voice on our council and his campaign has gathered tremendous public support throughout all parts of our community,” Planning Commissioner and Whalen Campaign Coordinator Anne Johnson said in a statement.

A minimum donation of $99 is required. Supporters who have already donated the $360 maximum per person are welcome to attend as guests of the campaign.

Guests should RSVP online at https://www.bobwhalenforcouncil.com/rsvp.

The next evening, an event for candidate Steve Dicterow will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home of Paula Lingelbach.

Dicterow was previously a city councilman for 12 years and served as mayor for three terms.

Laguna Beach Legal has endorsed Dicterow and is organizing the June 15 event. Minimum donations of $50 per person are requested.

Appetizers and champagne from French 75 will be served.

Finally, Mayor Pro Tem Verna Rollinger will have a fundraiser from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 16 at the home of Debbie Lewis, 2192 Ocean Way.

The event will include hors d’oeuvres, a light supper, wine and a silent auction. Tickets are $85 per person.

In her invitation, Rollinger requests that Laguna Beach residents email her with what they like best about Laguna — and what needs improvement. Send responses to [email protected] by June 14.
