Children’s book festival takes place Sunday
For anyone who has ever wanted to ride a train with a dinosaur, meet a vampire or write a book, Sunday is the day.
The eighth annual Orange County Children’s Book Festival will bring authors, storytellers and illustrators together from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Orange Coast College, 2701 Fairview Road.
The free event will feature Grammy Award winner Bunny Hull for a story and music at 10:50 a.m.; Robin Preiss Glasser, the illustrator of the bestselling series “Fancy Nancy†at 11:45 a.m.; David Horvath, the co-creator of Uglydoll, at 12:30 p.m.; and comedian Molly Shannon, author of “Tilly the Trickster,†at 1:20 p.m.
Kids can ride the Dinosaur Train with Buddy the Dinosaur at 12:25 p.m.; Whiplash Kids Band will perform 80s music at 1:45 p.m.; “Beautiful Creatures†author Kami Garcia will read from her new book at 1:45 p.m. and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer†actress and author of the Calliope Reaper Series Amber Benson will take the stage at 4 p.m.
There will also be exotic animals and a petting zoo.
