David A. Klein
September 4, 1918 – December 13, 2010
Longtime Newport Beach resident, David A. Klein, passed away at the age of 92. During the span of his life he had the good fortune to be married to two very unique and different women, Phyllis Hudson Klein and Toni Hewitt Klein.
David had a great love for travel, particularly New York and France and shared his passion for boating with family and friends. For most of his life he was a dedicated sailor, competing in many races in the Newport area. In his later years David was a constant presence cruising Newport Harbor in his beloved classic tender “Camelotâ€.
During his lifetime he developed the family business into a highly successful chain of retail jewelry stores, Hudson Jewelers. When he decided to sell his business he found continued success in commercial real estate development working at his desk every day until his recent illness.
He will be missed for his incredible wit, humor, charm and business acumen.
He is survived by his son Rodger Klein; son Thomas Klein and daughter-in-law Kathryn Klein; grandson, Kyle Klein; Henry Hewitt and Suzanne Hewitt and grandson, Marlon Hewitt.
A memorial service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 W Centinela Ave. Los Angeles on December 19, 2010, at 12:00.
