Half a dozen people were arrested at a DUI checkpoint in Costa Mesa, police said Wednesday.
Officers screened 814 drivers at the Tuesday night checkpoint, stopping 11 of them for further investigation. Of those, police arrested four on suspicion of driving under the influence, one for drugs and another for an unrelated cause, officials said.
Police also handed out 18 tickets and impounded 15 vehicles. In total, 1,182 cars passed through the checkpoint at Bristol Street and Randolph Avenue.
The California Office of Traffic Safety provided funding for the checkpoint.
