The Orange County Registrar of Voters verified the signatures for two Fountain Valley City Council candidates who were still awaiting official status Friday, bringing the total number of candidates to 10.

Small business owner Duy T. Nguyen and retail sales manager Patrick Tucker submitted paperwork but were awaiting signature verification after the deadline passed Friday. The registrar approved both candidates Monday, Deputy City Clerk Kathy Heard said.

Candidates need 20 signatures to run for the council.

Three incumbents, Mayor Pro Tem Cheryl Brothers and Councilmen John J. Collins and Guy Carrozzo, have declared plans to run again. Also in the race are businessman Michael Vo, teacher and writer Steve Schultz, small business owner Mark McCurdy, quality assurance supervisor James Pull and physicist and software engineer Frank Perdicaro.
