A former Costa Mesa Rite Aid supervisor was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison Wednesday for her part in setting up two armed robberies.
Cynthia Ongamsing-Jenkins, 43, of Tustin, pleaded guilty Feb. 24 to two counts of grand theft for telling police that she was the victim in two armed robberies, including a Rite Aid at 2300 Harbor Blvd. in 2007.
In the Costa Mesa incident, Ongamsing-Jenkins told police that armed gunmen ordered her and another employee to empty the register and store safe. While the other employee was locked in the store cooler, the two men stole $5,500.
On June 20, 2009, Ongamsing-Jenkins told police that she was robbed at gunpoint as she carried a deposit bag from Rite Aid to a nearby Bank of America in Dana Point.
Police linked her to the crimes after finding suspicious text messages on her cell phone.
The men involved in the Costa Mesa robbery have not been found.
