Air Canada will begin flying nonstop to Toronto from John Wayne Airport on Friday, giving passengers their first direct international flight from Orange County.
The first Air Canada flight from Toronto is scheduled to land at JWA Thursday, ahead of Friday’s scheduled outbound flight to Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Airport.
The once-daily service aboard Canada’s flagship airline will use 120-seat Airbus 319s.
It will take about five hours to fly to Pearson International, a hub for Air Canada. The service will provide passengers with another option to reach destinations on the U.S. East Coast and Europe.
Passengers departing Orange County will need to travel with a valid passport. Customs clearance, for both departing and arriving flights, will take place in Canada.
Passengers will also be able to browse the Internet and check e-mails come this summer when the airport launches its free Wi-Fi.
